Is It Watery In Here or What?
Hi friends. Hi. 🙂
I have been MIA for a moment, now. I haven’t truly been MIA…I’ve been working on my astrology class, honing my skills and deepening my acquaintance with myself at this age and stage of life. And getting to know ME again has been both harsh and beautiful. As a friend said the other night—I’ve been having many human moments.
Those moments have sent me back into contemplation over the Grand Water Trine and the impact it has had on my life, pondering what is to come before its energy transitions into a straight-up trine between Jupiter and Saturn for the remainder of this year. As a reminder, here’s what the parade of smaller planets did over the course of the last month and a half:
Mercury, The Messenger of the Gods, communicator extraordinaire, entered into range of the Grand Water Trine at 22 degrees of Scorpio on 10/22/2025
Mars, The God of War, our “GO!”, entered into range on 10/25/2025
The Sun, The Core of our Soul, entered into range on 11/14/2025
The Moon, The Mother of our Emotions, entered into range on 11/19/2025, sitting in that Grand Water Trine through the new moon on 11/20 (and my god—what a new moon that was!)
Venus, The Goddess of All We Hold Dear in our Hearts, entered into range on 11/24/2025, joining Mercury in a conjunction as it travelled backwards through its retrograde cycle.
And right now, Mercury is once again about to move out of range of the Grand Water Trine.
With astrology, one of the best ways to learn is to track the major transits and identify where they are transiting your natal chart, see who they’re communicating with and how, journal out what you think might happen and in which areas of life, and then afterwards—go back and document what actually happened so you can see how those transits really impacted you. This way, you have a better idea of what to expect when the transit comes by the next time, and you really do learn how accurate astrology can be. I had certain expectations about the area of life this energy would focus on for me, but what living through it taught me was that I failed to fully take in the big picture.
The Water. The damned water. I totally dismissed it, and I’m not sure why.
That’s not true; I AM sure why. I KNOW why I didn’t really focus on the impact the heightened energy of the water signs was going to have on me; it was because the planets were transiting near major angles in my chart, and that seemed far more important in alignment with what was already going on in my life. So that’s what I focused on. And there was no way I really could have predicted the emotional mess I would end up in, as I received completely unexpected news.
I was not surprised by the early transits of Mercury and Mars. They did what they do: communicated and offered some extra energetic punch to forward motion in the areas of life where they were sitting. Things didn’t get truly interesting until the Sun made its moves towards 22 degrees of Scorpio. That was around 11/14, and that week, I got some news that was disturbing and ripped the ground out from under my feet. Not what I would have expected from the sun, but then again—the sun is who we are at our core, and the scenario that has come to sit at my doorstep is asking me to be who I am; to fully embrace all of me, and respond to the realities of life in alignment with that. On the heels of that news, which left me in a really tender state, the moon moved into range the week after, and while it was part of the Grand Water Trine, we had a New Moon that utterly destroyed me. I was emotionally overwhelmed, breaking down in tears several times a day, and rightfully so based on what I was dealing with. I had spent the last week trying to figure out the next mundane steps to take to solve the issues that had just cropped up while simultaneously trying to understand why I had so horribly misunderstood the guidance I’d received from spirit, so while I worked out a way to get back up off the ground, I had a tiny little spiritual crisis. I didn’t fall back into not trusting myself, but I was just so, so confused. The spiritual messages had been so clear, but the circumstances I was living through did not at all align with those messages. The confusion was deep, and real, and upsetting, and caused even more tears.
As I muddled through, I was able to work things out and get into a better headspace. It turns out, I didn’t misinterpret anything. I just don’t have the vantage point that spirit has. I can’t see what they see. I can’t know all that they know. So when they tell me it’s all gonna be fine, I don’t know how because it neither looks fine nor like there is any good way out from where I’m sitting. But I realized I not only have to trust myself…I have to trust spirit, be patient, let go of control, and let go of human expectations. None of these are easy things for me to do, but I did it. I didn’t have much choice and as I did that, I was also reminded to sit in gratitude, because just look at what they had done for me already.
And so I handled my mundane business, cried when I needed to cry, and let spirit work things out for me. And they have, and they are, and it’s beautiful. It’s not over, but it’s looking like there is at least a way out. I’m much more grounded with the flow of life right now. It will keep on flowing, too, and I’ll follow it wherever it’s planning to go. I’m still experiencing momentary feelings of confusion but the messages from spirit are the same. They got me. I just have to stay grateful and remain aligned.
So what did I learn? First and foremost, my expectations were in alignment with a lot of what happened. But more than that—while I could not have predicted the specific news I got, I could have and SHOULD have expected heightened emotions. In alignment with the energy of a Grand Water Trine combined with a New Moon as part of that grand trine, it was fitting that I was emoting all over the place. That new moon did not play around! Mostly though, I learned just how on point astrology is.
The lesson I’m still muddling through perfectly corresponds with the houses the Grand Water Trine is transiting in my natal chart, and the planets are delivering the lessons exactly as they are directed to do.
Jupiter is a spiritual planet. Philosophical. Altruistic. It’s about believing in the abundance of the all; having faith that the best outcome is not only possible, but has already happened. Saturn is about hard work, and discipline, and mastery of the lessons he offers us. Growth. And true to form, Saturn is tearing up the rotten foundation I do not want to let go of and preparing me to replace it with much more stable ground underneath my feet—but in order to do so, I have to find the discipline to push through the necessary steps because if I don’t, I will surely fail. With this situation, there is no way to win without doing the work—and Saturn is laying that work right at my doorstep. I’ve been forced to identify the puzzle and put it back together again, piece by agonizing piece, without even fully understanding what the final image is supposed to look like, but then Jupiter jumps back in, reminding me I’m right where I’m supposed to be and to hold on tight to faith. That I’m being guided through the evolution process that helps us grow as human beings, and that when it’s all over—all will be well because no matter how alone I might feel, I’m never alone. Not for one moment. And even though I may not be able to see a way out—the universe sees all the ways out and will remain at the rudder, steering me faithfully and carrying me to dry ground.
The smaller, faster moving planets have been triggers with unfailing accuracy. Mars pushed me to make decisions rather than sit and wallow. The sun has made this lesson intensely personal, striking right to the core of who I am and urging me to align with that woman—because THAT IS WHO I AM SUPPOSED TO BE. Venus made me question my values—not just what I value but WHO I VALUE. The moon is keeping things hidden behind the veil until it’s time for them to come to light, forcing me to find healthy ways to deal with confusion and frustration—and helping me appreciate just how much I really DO trust myself and my experiences. And Mercury? He has taken a bigger role than I thought possible, making me listen, and question HOW I listen. He has really helped me realize the need to let go of human assumption while trusting that what I hear, what I know to be true—IS STILL TRUE….even if the end result doesn’t look like what I thought it was supposed to look like. Because while we make plans, the universe laughs.
What did I learn? That I know a lot more about astrology and how to use it than I give myself credit for, because my initial expectations were accurate. I learned where my blind spots might be and how to better pay attention to the full meaning of transits. I learned how to deal with the impact that the element of water has in a much more grounded way. And I have a newfound respect for Mercury, who I did not take seriously enough with all those internet memes about Mercury retrograde.
Most important, I know myself better. I learned more about who I am, how I interpret messages from spirit, how astrological transits play out for me and how to trust that the energy I feel is always in alignment with the movements of the heavens. As above, so below.
The other aspect to all of this is that it wasn’t just Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury retrograde, Uranus and Neptune were (and are!) retrograde as well. Most of the big boys were sitting there “moving backwards” and sending us spinning into ourselves on an introspective journey until they’re ready to go direct again and help us externalize the lessons and the knowledge. At this point, Mercury is direct (though still in his shadow phase), and Saturn has gone direct as well, so with both of them an active part of the Grand Water Trine, it’s time to externalize those lessons. It’s time to put boots on the ground and get to work.
What does this all mean? Well, it might look like familiar people and circumstances popping up from the past, uninvited and unexpected. It might look like unpredictable and nonsensical behavior from others—behavior that just doesn’t make any sense, leading to a lot of “WTF just happened???” kinds of moments. From what I’m seeing not only in my own life, but in the conversations folks are sharing online—that’s a pretty accurate assessment of where many of us are sitting right about now.
As we move ahead towards the end of the Grand Water Trine, Mercury is the last planet to activate it, which is fitting since Mercury was the first planet to kick it all off back in October. And as he activates it for the last time, things should become a lot clearer. When this whole thing started, Mercury lead the procession, whispering messages into our souls to help us navigate the upcoming journey. Now that he’s moving back over those same degrees at the end of scorpio, what do you think he will say to you? What whispers of wisdom might he bring, what directives might he offer? How do you think Mercury will help you wrap up this year successfully? By December 11, 2025, he will be out of range and we will have a full idea of what the journey of the Grand Water Trine was all about for us on a personal level. Journal it out. Remember it, for it will happen again in some way, shape or form and next time—this memory will help you be more prepared.
What was that lesson, for you? What area of life has been highlighted for you over the last 6 weeks?
