Riding The Waves of The Grand Trine

Hey out there! I’m back with astrology and patterns and MAGIC!

We just wrapped up what I saw as a cycle from the end of August through the Harvest Moon on October 6^th. For me, that Harvest Moon, while full and bright, left me exhausted, like I was at the end of a long day of work and just needed to sleep. That makes sense to me based on how much work I did over the 3 months leading up to that point, and I especially appreciated the message from my guides to Harvest love, and be gentle with myself.

Now we’re moving on to the next pattern, and what the skies are telling us is that they are removing all blockages and sending the energy in full force. Non-stop. With ease and speed. I, for one, plan to direct that energy right where I need it to go!

The Grand Trine

The planets and stars and asteroids and comets and….all of the stuff floating about in space above us… it all makes patterns in the sky. Astrology calls them aspects. They are points of contact that, when close enough, have an impact in very particular ways on our lives.

Starting this month through the end of this year, there is a aspect forming in the skies called the Grand Trine, and it’s forming in a very particular way; it doesn’t just show up for a few days or a week—it is anchored by 2 large planets that are going to sit in aspect to one another until the end of the year and hold that pattern in place. And it’s not a pattern that will reappear anytime soon, so it’s important to take advantage of this energy while it’s here. It’s a fast, fresh breeze flowing through. It’s an invitation to grab your board and ride the waves to the end of the year—directing your flow where YOU want it to go. It’s a gift after all the hard work and transformations this year has brought us.

What is a trine? I’m so glad you asked! A trine is an aspect formed in the natal chart when 2 planets are 120 degrees away from one another, creating one leg of a triangle. It is said to be a place of luck and ease in the natal chart, functioning in ways similar to Jupiter.

A Grand trine is kind of like a trine on steroids. It’s three planets coming together, each forming a trine with the other. It’s not just the one leg of a triangle—it’s all three legs combining to FORM the triangle. Completion. A full connection between the elements of the sign they sit in, creating a harmonious grid that communicates with ease, efficiency, and tends to work from a similar perspective.

A trine may be like Jupiter, but the difference is that with Jupiter—the goal is expansion. With a trine, the primary impact is more akin to the result of all obstacles being so completely removed that one might not even realize how easy a particular thing was. It can be subtle…a breeze of luck: sunny skies interrupting a rainstorm an hour before your BBQ in the park; finding the perfect parking spot in front of the grocery store; or realizing the thing you want to buy is on sale for 50% off…all of these combining in a series of events that make you feel like you were chosen by the gods of luck for a time. Trines also tend to offer speed, because without obstacles, energy can stack up and effortlessly hit the same point over and over again, applying a force that increases velocity and momentum. These are subtle differences, but differences, still.

It all feels like good luck.

Because the aspect is set apart by 120 degrees, each planet will be in different signs, but those signs will share the same element. Most of the time. 😉 For this series of grand trines, Jupiter and Saturn are the stabilizing giants in the triangle, with Jupiter sitting at 24 degrees of Cancer (a water sign) and Saturn sitting at 26 degrees of Pisces (another water sign). Both of these planets are slower-moving and shift in and out of retrograde over the next 3 months, creating a dance that helps them remain in close contact through the end of the year. The third leg of the triangle is in our last water sign: Scorpio. As the faster-moving planets move through the latter degrees of Scorpio, they form a Grand trine with both Jupiter and Saturn, creating that complete triangle and offering a perfect storm for harmonious connection and communication between planets and signs within the same element: Water.

Phew! What does all that mean for you? Well as always, there is a meaning for the collective and a meaning for you on a more personal level. Nobody can tell you how this will impact you personally unless they have your natal chart, but on a collective level, we can guess as to what might happen based on the signs involved, the element involved, and the planets involved.

Y’all know I prefer the personal though, right? So I’m not going to speak to the collective potentialities around this grand trine. I’m going to speak on how you can find the potentialities that are most beneficial to YOU. And that means this: go get that natal chart! LOL!

I don’t have your chart, so I’ll have to use mine as an example on how you can analyze your own chart. I start by taking a look at what’s happening with the stable leg of the triangle: Jupiter and Saturn. Neither of them are making any major aspects to planets or angles in my chart, but Jupiter is sitting opposite my North Node—which points to supportive energy available to fulfill destiny and soul growth—and maybe some potential to miss the big picture, because Jupiter might expand my enthusiasm for soul growth beyond what is realistic. And then the parade of fast-moving planets begins and over the next few weeks, they repeatedly hit those degrees that create the grand trine and connect the energy of Jupiter and Saturn in different flavors, while making a direct square to an angle in my natal chart.

The “Smaller” Players

First, we have Mercury moving into aspect around the 22^nd degree of Scorpio on 10/22/2025. Mercury is air—communication, intellect, and how we express ourselves.

Next, we have Mars joining the fray early on the 25^th. Mars is the planet of action—our warrior, our GO!…our drive….our desire…the energy behind how we direct ourselves towards our goals. And it’s conjunct—its energy completely blending with that of Mercury around the same degrees, with both of those planets reaching out to Jupiter and Saturn to create that grand trine while sitting square to an angle in my natal chart.

As mercury slowly moves out of the mix, Mars remains in aspect with Jupiter and Saturn right into the first week of November.

Then, the Sun comes to shine its favorable light on those trigger points, creating the grand trine with Jupiter and Saturn on November 15^th, closely followed by the moon in the following days. Last, we have Venus making its grand entrance into the dance of the grand trine on the 25^th through the end of the month, and at the same time—Mercury goes retrograde and passes BACK over those same degrees—joining Venus on the 25^th of the month in a conjunction and amplifying the message.

For you, the pattern will be the same. It won’t hit the same exact spots in your chart—but the pattern is there. Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces will anchor two legs of the triangle, then the parade of planets comes through to give it completeness with new flavor every couple of weeks: Mercury, Mars, The Sun, The Moon, Venus…..and Mercury again.

The question is: what is this pattern interacting with for you, on a personal level?

For me, I know that it’s impossible for almost every planet to participate in a major astrological pattern that impacts an angle in my natal chart and something major doesn’t happen.

It can be a quiet and subtle type of major. It can be a loud and disruptive type of major. But there is always a major shift.

How to find out what those major shifts might be is not as hard as it seems: you look at where the energy is concentrated.

First of all, we are working with a concentration in the element of water. Water is our emotions, intuition and sensitivity. Water flows. Water finds a way, fast or slow, at the speed of a tsunami or the drip of a faucet. Water is beautiful. Water is relentless.

Second, we are working with two powerful planets forming two aspects of a grand trine, so it’s important to understand what those planets represent and what the signs they sit in represent.

Jupiter is in Cancer. Jupiter is expansion, luck, joy, happiness. Good fortune. Cancer is our home, our family, our emotional security, the way we nurtured and were nurtured; the way we settle down and love on each other.

Saturn is in Pisces. Saturn is our fatherly taskmaster, he gives us boundaries and lessons whether we want them or not, redirecting our lives mercilessly, sometimes cruelly. But the lessons can be easy—joyful, even, if we flow with them. Pisces is our dreamy intuitive life. It is a formless pool of watery emotions we float in and think up stories, goals and sometimes—utter fantasies. It is our spiritual world, where we go to meet our shadows and our spirit guides and our own souls. It is a space without boundaries.

Third, we are working with five planetary bodies that are stampeding across those latter points in the sign of Scorpio to create that grand trine over and over again through the end of this year: Mercury, Venus, Mars, The Sun and The Moon, each of them adding powerful energetic activation points to help us flow with the shifts the universe is insisting upon at this time. Scorpio is all about sex, death and transformation, and with sex, death and transformation—there is always creation energy, because one can not transform without creating something new. Scorpio digs deep down into the darkness, burrowing and pulling up all those secrets, all things hidden, all things squirreled away. It may not choose to pull it all the way up into the light—but it’s gonna see what’s underneath even if you want to hide that ish away forever. It is a deeply intense sign—loyal, passionate and shrewd.

This helps us put together the first piece of the puzzle: whatever area of our life is impacted most, the lessons will be heavily focused, intense, and likely dealing with emotions in some way, because that grand trine is doing the most in the element of water—and that water is going to relentlessly flow to the end goal. The locations all of this is happening in your chart help you define, understand and work with that goal.

So we know where the energy is concentrated. What else do we know?

We know that something is likely going to expand (Jupiter) and something will be restricted (Saturn).

We know that the expansion is about emotional development, and it’s going to want to expand while staying all curled up inside of a nurturing, comfortable home and hiding, if possible (Cancer).

We know that the restriction is in the nature of spiritual development, because Pisces is a highly spiritual sign.

And we know that those last five planetary bodies are going to add their own flavor to the mix over time.

What does this all mean?

I can give you a really good example from my own life. When we say that Saturn in Pisces restricts our spiritual development, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Saturn is always going to want to add structure and boundaries, and while Pisces might want to fight that…it also WANTS us to reach the highest point on our spiritual pathway that we possibly can—and in order to do this, you have to have structure and boundaries—somewhere.

Saturn has been in Pisces since March of 2023 with a brief retrograde back into Aquarius for a few months in 2025. Now, it is in its final phase of doing the work to build structures in our spiritual lives until it exits Pisces in Feb of 2026. In 2023, my spiritual journey took on a whole new life. I won’t get into all the details here (but they are in my BOOK!!!), and the first year or so was really all about that Pisces exploration….no real boundaries. No real structure. Work and patterns and learning, but no hard and fast rules. I was a spiritual baby, and I was coddled and cared for. Spoon-fed, one might say.

This last year? It has been ALL about boundaries—ESPECIALLY these last couple of months. My spiritual studies have required me to stretch in ways I never thought I could—and with that stretching came a lot of….well…..work. There’s been a lot more structure than I had before, and when that structure fell apart—so did I—so I made sure that even if I got behind schedule, I finished my work at some point. Not every time, but most of the time. I learned that there are spiritual moments where timing is everything—and if you can’t do what you need to do when you need to do it, you miss that opportunity and have no choice but to wait for the next wave of energy to come along that will help you complete your tasks.

I am not a person who loves restrictions, but I can honestly say that without the restrictions that Saturn brought to my spiritual life over these last two years, I would not have seen any growth at all. I would still be floating about in a lovely pool, thinking how beautiful it all is and wondering what all of it means.

So restrictions, you see, can be a good, good thing.

My intuition and sensitivity have also expanded a great deal, and I have experienced new depths to my emotions while simultaneously learning to process them with a lot more regulation than I have in the past. This fits the themes of Jupiter in Cancer, and it most certainly fits the trine between Jupiter and Saturn, with the emotional and spiritual expansion and regulation happening inside of the structure and boundaries Saturn added.

This is Saturn’s last dance in Pisces for about another 30 years-ish—so I expect these next few months to help wrap up the lessons he brought to me this year and deliver me into a phase of mastery by the time he moves into Aries. This grand trine? I will use it as an opportunity to continue to develop the spiritual stamina I’ve built up through study and forced boundaries this year, tying intentional goals to the dates the smaller planets parade through Scorpio and create that grand trine, over and over again. To reach mastery, I’ll work in alignment with the energy by offering complete focus while the energy is high, intense, without blockages, and can help carry me where I want to go.

Eh Voila! I have a plan—and it is in alignment with the energy coming through for the next 3-6 months.

There’s more to it, of course. I mentioned that this energy is conjunct my North Node and forming a square to an angle in my natal chart.

The North Node is, in short, our destiny. It is where we are supposed to be traveling, because we have mastered the lessons the South Node has brought and while comfortable there—we need to learn to become comfortable in the North Node position as well.

The four angles in our natal chart (Ascendant, Descendant, Mid-heaven and IC) are important contact points. When something happens in alignment with these angles, it will show up in your life, usually quite visibly.

Squares bring tension, requiring more work—a lot of action—to see goals successfully manifest.

And so, the overall energy for ME is very much in alignment. My North Node is in Capricorn, and that has a lot to do with career and work. It is not so much related to spirituality, but career is also a major theme for me right now—and it has to do with spirituality in many ways—so the North Node Opposition to Jupiter (which also represents philosophy and spirituality) is an important theme that ties in.

All of this points to my primary work right now being spiritual in nature, and with a square offering tension—it helps me know I can’t coast even though the grand trine is removing obstacles and adding speed. It helps me know that the most successful path forward for ME is to work and then work a bit harder while this energy moves through our collective. The payoff though? I know it will be more than noticeable.

There’s more, but Imma stop here.

The point is: where is this energy interacting with YOUR natal chart? Which houses are Jupiter and Saturn transiting right now? What aspects are they making? What house is Scorpio covering? Is any of this action happening close to or in aspect to natal planets? Your nodes? The angles of your chart?

The answers to all of these questions will help you create a plan to get to the end of this year successfully—and then another plan to navigate the first 3 months of next year successfully—because Saturn is not leaving Pisces until February, and then we have another Blood Moon in March, both of these events tying up patterns from this year.
