It’s Gonna Be Alright…

Hey!

I woke up today thinking about how grateful I am to live this magical-ass life. Like—how lucky I’ve been to study under the women I’ve studied under, and how fortunate I’ve been to have had a long-term mentor who has helped me advance, who has my back, and who is my friend.

The most fortunate thing, though, is being connected to spirit. Being connected to spirit is everything. No matter what, no matter what, no matter what. My oversoul and spirit team give me life, every single day. They guide me and fill the gaps where I’m lacking and love me beyond reason.

I am so grateful.

Today, I know for sure my time of rest is over. Rest is sacred and will always be prioritized in my life, but this last resting phase was also a period of recovery. I’m feeling amazing, and I’m ready to get back into the swing of things…Pulling cards to share, writing nonsensical things, teaching. Living in joy.

So today, I’m sharing messages.

When it comes to asking questions of the cards, I sometimes have a hard time formulating something with specificity. But today, I’m feeling all of it. The discord, the stress, the fear, the anger, the hopelessness…and I wonder how to combat that.

What do we do, when the world is coming apart around us?

Where do we stand when the ground is shifting beneath our feet?

And so I asked: On this day of discord and upheaval, what messages do we need to hear as a collective?

We start with the Eight of Cups, anchoring the beginning of our reading. This is a card of hopelessness and stagnation. Things are not good. Everything has come to a grinding stop, and we know nothing can go on the same way. There is a hopelessness engulfing us, so much so that we choose to lay it all down and walk away into a new future.

We leave it all behind, and we don’t turn around—not even once!!!—to watch, as it all burns down. We aren’t pulling a Lot’s wife kind of move, not because we want to be obedient to any God or Deity, but because we know there is nothing left behind to look for. We let even our hopelessness burn up as we turn our backs and walk away.

The future we look towards is an ever-unfolding rose, telling us to crack our hearts wide open, because whatever is happening, is happening FOR us…not TO us. And the message from the universe is to let it crack¹. Let our hearts be open. Even if it hurts. Even if we’ve lost everything. Even if we are scared that nothing will ever be the same and nobody will survive any of it.

Let life crack you open¹, anyway.

The offering, with this Imagery, is to go gently. To wrap yourself in love and tenderness, trusting that The Divine Feminine has you wrapped tight. Safe. Warm. Loved. The suggestion, is that we will be able to look back at this moment in time from some point in our future, and ponder over its meaning, ask questions and tap into the wisdom of the lessons learned.

To quote the text of the card verbatim, “Everything is going to be OK.” ¹

Surrounding and clarifying the card of the ever-unfolding rose are the Knight of Swords and the Justice cards.

Here, we find a knight, filled with action and pushing forward towards his destination with speed, urgency and determination. He is mentally sound; intelligent. Well-educated. As a warrior and protector, he is a force to be reckoned with. 

You can’t stop him, and it is clear he is fighting on our side. But where is he heading? What is his final destination? We find our answers in our final card: Justice.

This battle that rages around us, it is karmic. There is a choice to be made; decisions to solidify, and a future to build based on those decisions, and one might say it goes beyond Karma and travels into the Universal law of cause and effect.

We have created this, and it can no longer sustain itself. It must resolve, one way or the other. And we have not created this alone. As above, so below.

We are not alone, in this fight.

While this feels heavy, there is hope in the fact that this is clarifying the anchoring card of the ever-unfolding rose, which tells us that it’s all gonna be okay.

Truly. We are gonna make it.

Next, we look towards what that future might look like, and we find a future anchored with The Goddess Sulis, meaning, “Sun.”

In alignment with our reading, she is a Goddess associated with wisdom, justice and defense…but primarily? She is a Goddess of healing. She is telling us to look towards the warmth of the sun. Knowing this the future we are walking into, is extraordinarily comforting. Let it hold you and keep you.

As a collective, we are regenerating and healing. We just need to remember that in order to regenerate, something must die.

May what dies be filled with filth and uselessness; rotten to the core. And may we use the energy it creates as it seeps into the earth to rebuild a fertile, loving, equitable and stable society.

The last two cards that anchor around Sulis are the nine of pentacles and the nine of cups.

There could be nothing more beautiful than these to wrap up our message. They are cards of beauty and abundance, and reassurance that all of our worries and fears will dissipate. They usher in peace and wealth and harmony. They give us goodness and happiness and stability. They promise us that we will enjoy the luxury and joy that comes from the hard work we’ve engaged in to get where we are.

Go. Be at peace. Be blessed. Be happy, for what is happening, is happening FOR us….not TO us ¹.

Ritual Work

Sulis is known for her hot springs at Bath in Southwestern England. Here, visitors from around the world would offer pleas for justice and healing, throwing sculptures of specific body parts that were broken with requests to mend that which was defective, or make right the wrongs of men. All of it was written down and thrown into the warmth of the waters, with the heart and soul creating a magical intention to help push forward the healing and justice necessary for human evolution.

If you find yourself feeling particularly down, or overwhelmed with the activity of the world around us, take a moment to make a cup of tea for yourself AND Sulis.

In your tea, put your favorite leaves and flowers…lavendar and rose and the fragrant bergamot of earl grey with the black leaves that give it that kick. Calm your nervous system with lemon verbena or lemon balm. Sweeten it with the most delectable local honey you can find.

For Sulis, instead of herbs—write down your offerings for what you need at this moment in your life. Give her your woes, and your fears, and your worries. Ask her to help you find courage and leave the fears behind, and then fold up your petition and drop it into the hot waters of the most beautiful mug you have. Add in some fragrant herbs on top—maybe share the herbs you are drinking with her, or add something else that might call to you. Put some sweetener on top—some of that honey!!—and sit down to drink your tea and fully relax.

Let Sulis’ tea steep for 24 hours, then on that evening—go outside and pour her tea into the earth as libation. Give thanks for the protection she has offered. If you feel led, as you pour libation—say this prayer:

PRAYER TO SULIS

Sul, bright one, burn within my heart, banishing all sickness and sorrow.

Grant me clear vision and the fire of justice and protection, that I may have wholeness and well-being.

May all be bright.

May all be well.

May the cold places within me and others be washed and warmed by your radiance. ³
