Energy of the Week, August 23, 2026

Y’all. Y’all! The Lion is asleep. The Leo’s have left center stage.

Virgo season slowly and quietly rolled in last night, setting the stage for the end of summer and the beginning of all things fall. The gardens are abundant and the pressure canner has started to do its job full time. Nights are cooler, and new school routines remind us that structure is here, once again.

It’s time to be grateful for the last days of warm weeks and welcome in autumn, because harvest season is here.

The energy over the last couple of weeks has been extraordinary. Heavy and intense, with large themes of release and a need to open our hearts to the most beneficial types of expansion entering our lives. Also there’s been this need to let go of the reigns and let spirit guide us. Right now, the energy feels like—to me, anyway—the very season we are in. Harvest season.

The release has been intense. It’s like we have been inside a dryer, being tossed around and banged about. There has been this conflicting movement between exhaustion, confusion, a need to go and a need to rest, a passion to move on all the things you’ve ever wanted to do and the brilliance to actually do it, quickly subdued by what feels like the most intense, holiday-induced food coma sitting you all the way down. It has felt like a daily invitation to step into the ring and clash it out.

I am more open to Virgo season than I think I’ve ever been. That steady structure, the invitation to take a deep look at all the things and get your whole life together, to pull in the harvest and prepare for the coming changes—I welcome that, right now. I don’t think energy is a mistake or a coincidence, ever, and so let’s talk about the astrology for this week, just for a moment.

I’m actually going to start with our last full moon on July 29th, which was in Aquarius and I’m going back to that because this last month feels like a very intentional setup for the next few years of our lives, and that day was the jumpoff point for our transition on both a collective and personal level. I say that because Eclipse season for the next 18 months is on the Aquarius / Leo axis so the nodes are there as well, putting our focus on Leo and Aquarian themes: Leo carries warmth, generosity, passion and creation, creativity, playfulness and joy…and is about shining as our authentic selves unabashedly in very visible ways! And Aquarius is about revolution and change. Innovation and progressive transformation. They rebel against the status quo and they put their eccentric eye towards a dispassionate observation of the bigger picture, finding unconventional ways to address the human condition. These themes took center stage just as Jupiter entered Leo for the first time in 12 years.

All of this happened in the middle of some larger transits that are hugely transformational and extremely rare. This follows a pattern of extraordinary change that we’ve seen in the astrological skies all year long. That Aquarius full moon on 7/29 happened right at the peak of Jupiter Cazimi, which was a highly favorable, protective and expansive event. And rare. The pattern for this year, is rare. So with the Aquarius full moon that day we saw the start of the release for eclipse season as well as the introduction to whatever themes of abundance and growth were on the way in.

Next, we moved into the new moon total solar eclipse on August 12, which is still at work. We’re still in the midst of the eclipse corridor. It’s still moving us at record speed to whatever fates await us on the other side of the full moon lunar eclipse on August 28th, which is only a few days away.

And so my friends, If things have felt kind of bonkers—that’s why. Whatever we are being asked to let go of, the release point is almost here. And I think a lot of answers will begin to flow through along with the ability to actually move on them, because….eclipse season will be over. The themes will have set themselves up to play out over the next 18 months. And rather than being at rest or feeling stuck, the energy should shift us into more activity.

To support the coming shift, our Sun moved into the constellation of Virgo last night. Unlike the fixed, fiery nature of Leo, Virgo is mutable earth. She comes to ground us and slowly moves us into harvest season. She helps us adapt to the coming changes. On Tuesday the 25th, Mercury also moves into Virgo. This is one of Mercury’s home signs. Here, the intellect is analytical and brings a critical gaze with it to look at what we need to shift and where we need to adapt. When we work with the energy, it is not hurried or frenetic, but careful, thoughtful, movement. Having both the sun and mercury in Virgo gives our thought process the chance to gather itself after the exhaustive, chaotic energy of eclipse season, and align with the transformation that is upon us. If we need a little bit of time to get used to it, that’s what Virgo excels at. Work with the energy of the Virgin maiden and allow her to help us find nourishment and grounded rest while we shift into the fall season.

On August 27th, we have Mercury Cazimi. We know that when a planet is in cazimi, it has entered the exact heart of the sun—strengthening and supercharging its capacity to do what it naturally does. This might be a time when our ideas begin to flow again along with the desire to get things done. If you feel like it’s the right time to move into action by all means—flow with it. But the idea is to keep things in flow…the final eclipse is not until the 28th, so while ideas may flow, it might not be time, just yet, to act on them. Write them down. All of them. Record it in some way and then pay attention to whatever comes up after the Full Moon lunar eclipse on August 28th.

That’s all I wanted to highlight, this week. There’s a lot more, of course, but I really focus on the energy of the week, and the astrological transits that call to me to notice. These are them.

Stay in the flow this week. Don’t fight the release. Welcome in new beginnings.

And for all that is holy: Go find some garden tomatoes and can them for the winter, because they are a delicious treat when the cold months come floating in!

7/29: Jupiter cazimi conjunct full moon

8/12: New Moon AND total solar eclipse at 20° Leo

8/22: Sun into Virgo

8/25: Mercury into Virgo

8/27: Sun – Mercury Cazimi

8/28: Full moon and partial lunar eclipse at 4° Pisces

And now, for the card pull this week. I always look at either how we need to move in alignment or what we need to hear, and today, I feel like I need to ask the cards what we need to hear on a collective level, right now. So here we go….boot up the video to see the cards come to life. 🙂
