Aries Season

Western astrology aligns with the spring equinox, and one of the things I wanted to do this year was explore more about what that means and how it can help us more fully align with universal energy through the lens of astrology. Deeper exploration inspires deeper understanding, and the seasonal relationship between western astrology and the zodiac signs offers much insight into the nature of the signs, as well as their qualities and how they show up and show out.

It’s Aries season and as the first sign in the zodiac, Aries kicks off the astrological new year, making this the perfect time to explore the symbology of each zodiac sign. The spring equinox, which lines up with the constellation Aries, is the beginning of a new cycle. Whether you believe in astrology and other spiritual traditions or shun everything supernatural—you feel spring. You feel it in your bones and your breath, because it’s the end of winter and the fertile beginning of new life, and sunshine and warmth. As we witness the earth awakening from a long slumber, we welcome fresh vegetation and have access to nourishing foods that we sorely missed during the colder months. Spring allows us to get out and MOVE, breathing in fresh air without the sting of brutally cold temps burning our lungs. It manages a vast amount of energy bursting forth through the earth—feeding new and old life, disrupting periods of hibernation and ushering forth an awakening. It is a rebirth, revitalizing the self like nothing else can. Spring makes you feel like anything is possible and you want to go out and just experience it all.

Like spring, Aries offers new beginnings, rebirth, and fresh starts. As a cardinal sign, it initiates; says when and where to GO…and because it is the first sign in the zodiac, the beginning, it starts a whole new cycle. Aries takes that energy of spring and burns through it with confidence and aggression as we plow towards summer. It’s fiery and passionate, pushing us to keep on the move. To do something with all that energy. It’s courageous, confident, impulsive, daring and independent. It plants a fever-like urge to accomplish goals directly into the self rather than working on pulling the collective together. It’s inspiring.

Ruled by Mars, The God of War, Aries can also be aggressive. War-like—just like wasps building their nests in spring, chasing away anything perceived as a predator as they ensure their old stomping grounds can still sustain the hive. Or like the grass, when it realizes it no longer has to conserve energy to survive the cold and suddenly grows a foot in a week. Aries holds all that energy of spring and fire and newness, ready to go DO something. And if you don’t give it something constructive to do, it might just burn everything around it to the ground.

The modalities align with the seasons just as beautifully as the Sun Signs…the cardinal “GO” of Aries leading to the warm stability of Taurus, which fixes into place the new growth of spring and helps tame and direct the energy Aries brought to the scene. As a fixed modality, Taurus gives a worthy task to the energy of Aries: stabilize life and create. Ground that newness into the earth and make it part of the material plane. Be abundant and grow.

We are nearing that Taurus season now, and normally, we would be able to see the energy of Aries winding down and handing the reigns over to the next sign, but this year is different.

Do you feel it? Do you feel the difference?

Aggressive and chaotic. Angry and impulsive. Arrogant and haughty. War-like.

There does not seem to be any gentle transition waiting for us, this year. It feels like Aries is holding us hostage, and won’t let go without a fight.

As above, so below. As within, so without. The activity buzzing inside of Aries in this season is so highly dynamic, it is shouting throughout the universe at every level. We feel it collectively. We sense it in the spiritual realms. Something is happening, right now, and it feels important. And scary. And hopeful. And exciting.

Like a fresh, new birth.

We all know what is happening in the world right now, and there are a million different astrological perspectives to help us understand world events. Here, we want to focus on what the energy of Aries actually IS…what it feels like. What its purpose is. We want to learn and integrate that knowledge, and then, we want to ask how it is impacting us on a personal level.

Aries might be aligned with The God of War, but it is also aligned with spring. That means a tremendous amount of energy available to restart the life-cycle. That means warmth and fire; passion and strength. That means something is gonna get done whether we direct that energy or not.

Just because the human world is overwhelmed with the significant energy Aries brings to the scene at the moment, that does not automatically make it only about war. There is war-like aggression there, for sure, but that is not only because of Aries. That is the combination of an extraordinary number of planets clashing in a unique way inside of a highly potent and energetic sign.

Aries also brings new life. It ushers forth the most tender of newborns. It holds a unique ability to create as much as destroy. It is springtime, and it ushers in nourishment and nurturing with as much force as anger and war.

Fire ecology studies the impact of fire inside of ecosystems. From this discipline, we learn that as fire destroys, turning all it touches into ash, what it leaves behind can be a nutrient dense soil, where the remains of the life consumed by flame is left to feed the next life cycle. It leaves behind fertile, creative ground.

Not all fire creates fertility. Wildfires that burn too intensely can leave behind sterility instead of life. Worse—they can leave behind soil that allows invasive plants to overcome native ecological systems. The key to pulling the best from the element of fire, is a controlled burn. Low flames. Small fires that you can put out before they become too large; too hot; too destructive.

Aries, is fire. It tears through the astrological ecosystem with all the potential of fire and spring. It can leave behind potent fields of fertility where we can create in nutrient-dense soil, just like a forest fire—if only we control the burn.

How? How can we create what we want to see in rich, fertile soil? How do we control the burn?

The Astrology of 2026

We’re going to back up for a moment and take a peek at what’s happening in the sky right now.

Back on February 20^th, Saturn and Neptune met at zero degrees of Aries. These two planets come together around every 36 years (not necessarily in Aries), and that conjunction is typically accompanied by some major world events; back in 1989, for instance, the Berlin wall fell. But meeting at zero degrees Aries? To say it’s life-changing is an understatement. Saturn and Neptune have not met at zero degrees Aries for thousands of years. How many thousands is kind of up for debate, and I’m not gonna figure it out tonight, so I’ll stay in the safe zone and just say thousands. The point is: it’s extraordinarily rare, and carries significant potential to reshape the world into something unrecognizable, thus, the general hysteria in the astrological and spiritual world.

Saturn is discipline. Boundaries. Reality. Rigidity. It rewards hard work and responsibility. At its worst, it turns your life into a living hell of rigid boundaries that enclose and entrap you, leaving you always at the mercy of a harsh taskmaster. At best, it inspires you to find balance between the necessities of responsibility and the joys of living freely. It wants to see your feet on the ground and your nose to the grindstone. It wants you to be reasonable. It wants you to do the work within the structures it lays out for you. It forces you to pay attention to time and believe that it’s a meaningful and consistent universal concept. It builds stable ground.

Neptune is dreams. It’s illusion. It’s spirituality and the purest love. It covers you in foggy uncertainty. It rewards floating about in the ethers, while you devote yourself to your dreams and your spiritual journey. At its worst—it sends you into maddening addictions; spiritual psychosis; insanity; drug abuse. Somewhere in the middle—it keeps you from consistently understanding what’s going on; reality slipping from your grasp almost as soon as you touch it. At its best, it gives you access to the most esoteric, powerful secrets of the universe, allowing you to pull creation from the wisdom above. It wants you to dream the biggest, most unrealistic dreams and make them come true with fairy dust and focused intention. It wants you to be a visionary. It slows down time. It dissolves the ground beneath your feet.

When planets are conjunct, they appear to be so close to one another that their energies blend and merge, forcing them to find new ways to function. They are no longer alone. They are no longer a singular entity; rather, they have become something new. With Saturn and Neptune forming a conjunction, one might be tempted to say they are not compatible. But even the most incompatible of essences will blend and find a new way to move forward, and how we choose to work with it has a lot to do with how this new energy expresses itself. There is a push and pull and a tug of war, but despite the appearance of opposing forces, these two planets blending energy offers the opportunity to take the best of both worlds and create a new one. Neptune brings the insight and creativity. It gives you the vision and frees you to create. Saturn brings the structure and the discipline, forcing you to take your ideas out of the ethers and come down to the material plane so you can create on solid ground inside the boundaries of structure. Saturn forces you to make something useful of all that stuff floating around you.

These are big planets, with big personalities, that rule over big realms. Even though they need each other to connect the ethereal to the physical, their realms exist in opposition, so when they meet—there is some friction there. They recognize the work they can do together, but they are not comfortable doing it.

Still…for manifestation, for creation, to build something new—there is no better energy. Both, are necessary, offering the power to bring whatever you want into the mundane. In order to work effectively with their energy, recognizing both the friction and the opportunity therein is also…necessary.

Zero Degrees

Back in February, Saturn and Neptune joined forces at 0° of Aries. That degree point, matters.

Studying degrees inside of astrology is a whole topic—if not discipline—on its own, involving decans and anaretic degrees and critical things and Chaldeans, and….you get the picture. So I’m not going to pretend to know all that is when it comes to zero degree points, because I have not studied it in depth but what I DO understand is this: degrees matter. A planet at zero degrees carries different energy than a planet at 29 degrees. One is the start of something new. One is the end of the cycle, and understanding how one can apply the meaning of a degree adds yet another layer to understanding what your natal chart blueprint means for you.

For right now though, we are going to talk about the zero degree point. Zero degrees of any sign is an important…starting point. The planet at zero degrees has not yet had the chance to entirely merge with the energy the sign. It’s not used to things in this new home. It’s getting to know the energy and learn how it can express itself inside of it.

In cardinal signs, zero degrees take on a whole new meaning. Cardinal signs initiate. They begin—they convey an urgency to get things done. They GO. At zero degrees, a planet also feels a sense of urgency to get started, which can be exciting but also disconcerting—because they don’t quite know what to do with themselves yet. But the energy says: GO.

Together, the four zero degree points in cardinal signs form something called the World Axis, or the Aries Point. Or the Cardinal cross. Or the World Point. They all refer to the same thing.

We already talked about the meaning of Aries and how western astrology—the tropical zodiac—is aligned to the seasons. Aries begins the whole cycle anew. It’s not just a new season—it’s the beginning of the cycle for the entire astrological year, from new growth, to death and hibernation. The energy that Aries brings to the scene is explosive. It activates everything it touches and you can’t help but see it. It happens in the public eye.

Aries begins a new cycle. Aries is the start of the season. Aries initiates. And even though Aries is about the self, Aries creates waves that we see, whether we want to or not. Aries energy, impacts the world around it. Noticeably. Visibly.

Zero degrees also begins a new cycle. Zero degrees is the start of the journey through a new zodiac sign. Zero degrees initiates. Zero degrees in the cardinal signs are more about external manifestation; a transition point from the quiet inner workings of the Pisces…which brings an end to winter, to the exuberant outward expression of LIFE we see in Aries, which brings the start of spring. Thus, the Aries point offers a bridge, of sorts, between the “I Am” of Aries…and the “We Are” of the world. Planets that sit at this point create something of a portal that links personal action to the collective. It is a portal to change the world.

And this is where Saturn and Neptune met on February 20th.

Astrology. More Astrology…

So, that was February. Fast-forward to right now, and we don’t just have the Sun, Saturn and Neptune traversing Aries. If we just take a quick look at the month of April…:

We kicked off the month with a full moon at 12° Libra. On April 1^st at 10:12pm Eastern Time the pink moon rose high for us to see in all her glory. Libra is the sign opposite Aries, and while Aries represents the self, Libra represents the collective and how we relate to the outer world. In a way, this full moon started our month out by piling even more energy into the collective evolution that we are all experiencing, paving the way for the planets that followed to activate collective events.

We have Mars, The God of War, who entered Aries on April 9, 2026. Mars moves faster than outer planets, and it is often considered a significant planet of activation, triggering events as it travels through the skies and connects to important points in the zodiac. In this case, we would expect to see it trigger world events as it sat at 0°Aries, where Saturn and Neptune had recently joined forces and caused significant waves. We would expect to see activity that the collective and changes the whole world. And that has been quite true. Mars has moved on from the Aries point, conjoining Neptune on April 13^th. It will continue to travel through the stars, conjoining Saturn on April 19^th, triggering events as it touches each point.

We have Mercury, The Messenger of the Gods, who entered Aries on April 14^th. Mercury conjoined Neptune on April 16^th, and will join the Mars-Saturn conjunction on April 20^th. This too, is a trigger. Just like Mars, Mercury will activate the points it contacts, offering its messenger energy to worldwide events.

We have Chiron, the wounded healer, who entered Aries back in 2018 and is currently conjunct the Sun at 26 degrees.

Finally (well, not really finally….but this is the end of what I’m going to speak on here…), we have an Aries New Moon at 27°on April 17, 2026, at 7:52am Eastern Time.

The Energy

As we can see, this year’s Aries season began with a significant kick in the pants. It was not just a new season, or a new cycle. It carries with it the energy of an entire new world crafted exactly how we want it to look. It offers the opportunity to literally pull our desires out of the fogginess of Neptune, and plant them in the solid ground that Saturn provides. It offers the chance to rebuild that which has been destroyed in fertile ground.

It offers the energy of holy war. (Neptune, Mars and Saturn).

It offers the energy that allows us to choose to live as a warrior rather than a victim (Chiron conjunct the Sun).

It offers the energy of creating a whole new world and crafting it into exactly what we want it to be (Neptune and Saturn).

It offers energy. So, so much energy.

And that brings us right back to the question I asked earlier: How? How can we create what we want to see in rich, fertile soil? How do we control the burn?

Controlling the Burn…

Controlling the burn may not be easy, but it is simple—even if it feels like it’s neither.

We began the month with a full moon and on the 17^th, we have a potent new moon. New moons are about new beginnings. Fresh starts….do you see the pattern, here? This new moon is in Aries, and throughout this article, we have talked extensively about the many themes of new beginnings that are on offer to us—collectively and personally—through the current transits.

This new moon is no different, but what it gives us is a precious gift. This is a time to go into the darkness and the stillness. It is a time to listen to the quiet of the womb, where blackness offers the potential to create new life. It is a time to carefully manage our thoughts, acknowledge our dreams and desires, and focus all of our energy into pulling them into our world.

It is a time to set an intention so full, so complete, so pure…that its only option is to come forth.

We focus on it and we keep focusing on it until we see the promise of our truth before our very eyes.

It is a time, to manifest.

The control comes within our own minds. Aries might want to burn it all down, right now. The world might feel chaotic and confusing. Events might knock us off our feet, but on our own, we are stable. We are steady. We know what is happening and we are not afraid.

We are focused, with laser intention, on our goals. On our dreams. On our desires—both for ourselves AND FOR THE WORLD. And here is what we know:

With everything Aries giving us a fresh, new start,

and with Neptune giving our manifestations visionary status,

and with Saturn forming the boundaries and stable ground to hold the vision,

and with Mars giving us the boldness and courage to keep moving forward,

and with The sun and Chiron helping us choose to move like warriors…..

and with The New Moon planting our intent into fertile ground…

There is no way we can miss our target.

Stay focused, like a laser. Manage your thoughts like a taskmaster. Let your intent be visionary and set your expectations in the firm ground of reality. These are not small dreams we are looking for, right now. We are looking for life-changing, world-changing results. Will they manifest with the next full moon? They can. It is more likely though, with the kind of energy the universe has and will send our way, that this is a long-term game plan.

Set it in place. Keep your focus on it. Create the most amazing new world you can think of, and I’ll see you on the other side of this where we will continue to create. Together.
