Taurus Season

It’s Taurus season.

He slipped in quietly, filled with greenery, and flowers, and a soft humidity in the air that brings warmth and the promise of a fragrant summer heat, soon to come. Bunnies run across front lawns snacking on new shoots bursting through the earth. Squirrels fly through the trees with excitement, like they’re prepping for a block party chock full of their favorite foods. Birds steal tiny bits of paper and hair and soft materials to build their nests.

Taurus is a fixed sign, its job meant to set in place that which was initiated by the sign that came before it. Aries brought the start of spring with all the chaos that contains: wild swings in temperature as we move from the depths of the cold to the heights of warmth; blossoming flowers that pop up a bit too early and pay the dearest price when the ground freezes with a late snowstorm; the collective impatience of humanity as they anxiously wait for the sun to come out, stay out and warm the ground so they can play their way through the summer. When Taurus appears in the skies, we know that it’s time. Time to plant. Time to set up the grill. Time to get ready for summer. And yet before anything else: Time to receive the fullness of spring.

Aries exudes massive amounts of energy as it brings the earth back to life, and we see that in the determination of new growth all around us. No matter what, the cycle of life continues, and Aries season charges it with fire and passion and all that is necessary for the season to begin and be successful.

As Taurus takes over, he lends his stability to the earth with a consistency and a solidity that assures all of us we are safe. It’s okay to trust the warmth. The ground. It’s okay to plant for the upcoming season, for the nourishment we need to come forth from Mother Nature is ready. It’s there for us, for the new season has been stabilized and fixed in place.

That’s his job, you see. To be fixed. To be stable. To be steady. To be consistent. And he does a miraculous job at all of it.

Taurus’ element is earth and it is ruled by the planet Venus. It’s key phrase is “I have”. It speaks to what we have and what we want and what we value. The earthiness grounds us to the material plane, and Venus brings a love of all pleasures we experience through the physical, inspiring Taurus to indulge through their senses…taste, touch, sight, sound, scent. They luxuriate in what they love, and they love through their senses.

They are not just a fixed sign, but carry the strength and stubborness of the symbol that represents them…the bull. In that bullish way, a Taurus will sit and enjoy a buffet of their favorite food and they’re not moving until they’re done. Until they’re ready. Their fixed nature is tied to the job of fixing in place the new beginnings of a season that is the polar opposite of that which came before it. It fixes in place warmth. Life. Beauty. It steadies the awakening earth and keeps it awake. And it will not be deterred from its job. It carries the energy of the bull, because that’s what it needs to do what it must. Because spring must begin again, every year, and it must remain stable enough to bring the consistency we need it to bring. And that is what Taurus gifts to us. Stability. Consistency. Dependability.

Because of their commitment to the material and the sensual, a Taurus enjoys comfort. Their dependability and stability inspires them to work hard—but they play as hard as they work, and when they play, it might look like they’re being lazy, because of that love of comfort and Venusian demand to luxuriate. They will work slow and steady, carrying their part of the workload in ways you didn’t see coming…and then when they have fulfilled their commitment…when they are ready to rest, they will not be moved. They will rest with ease. They will rest in luxury. They will rest, until they’re done.

The Taurus likes to have things. Nice things. Beautiful things. They like to have people. Nice people. Beautiful people. 🙂 They align with ownership, for it gives them that sense of security inherent in their nature; that security they both lend to spring to stabilize her and root her into the earth, and the security they want to see as they seek comfort and stability in their own lives. It is part of him, to be secure and it is part of him, to have those things that make him feel secure.

The Taurus, possesses. They hold. They don’t let go easily.

So Taurus, my friends, is here with us for the next few weeks. Let’s look at what he does over this next month and reflect on how Taurus shows up in our own lives. This year has been monumental in the energy delivered to help humanity change, grow and evolve. The planets this year have been travelling together more than usual; sticking with one another like a newly formed gang and as they travel through the skies, they blend their energy, merging and clashing, inspiring us to make swift adjustments and adapt in ways we aren’t used to doing.

Over the last few weeks, the planets transiting through Aries have brought us some surprises. A war here. Rising gas prices there. Violence and destruction, and the chaos of not knowing when or where it will show up, or what format it will take when it does; all of this burning through us with that fast, decisive, courageous and impulsive Aries energy until we felt burned out and overwhelmed.

Taurus wants us to slow up and come down to earth, and this is a shift that was noticeable when the season changed back on April 19^th.

This is a beautiful, miraculous period of awakening, fixing in place that which is coming to life.
